With a bachelor of commerce specializing in hotel and food management, Mike began his career managing luxury first-class hotels. Over the next 20 years, he built on that experience, extending his expertise to include managing a range of retirement residences, as well as a variety of other innovative properties. Mike has garnered a solid reputation as a respected and ethical operator, earning top ratings from the Ontario Retirement Communities Association.
Now, as Vice-President of Riverstone Retirement Communities, Mike is excited about the opportunity to make a positive difference in people’s lives and offer the same quality of care that his own grandmother once enjoyed. He’s proud to be managing a company that aims to be at the forefront of retirement living in the Ottawa area. It began with Oakpark, then expanded to Bridlewood Trails, Maplewood, Carlingwood and Stirling Park. But it won’t stop there; drawings and plans for future developments are on the horizon. Riverstone, like Mike, is just getting started.
With more than 16 years’ experience in the financial and business spectrum of the seniors retirement housing industry, Arta continues to succeed in leading cross functional teams, with mandates for continuous improvement in operational and financial processes; the objective to provide quality services and a caring environment to our most deserving residents. This is apparent with mentoring team members and developing talent from within.
Although beginning and specializing in the financial and business area of retirement living, Arta’s talent and passion were recognized early on resulting in increased responsibilities and a progressive management path. She has grown to be an executive that leads by example and works closely with residents and each team member in executing strategic initiatives, implementing budgets and business plans and all areas of the RHRA and regulatory compliance. Arta strives to make a positive impact in seniors’ lives resulting in her community being the home of choice for seniors in Ottawa. She brings a broad range of skills as a motivated leader driven by her passion for exceeding the expectations of all stakeholders, ensuring a resident first philosophy, integrity in business practices and nurturing employees to be the best they can be.

Starting out at the age of 16 as a volunteer, Tom has been working in the retirement industry for nearly a decade. He graduated from Carleton University with a degree in Mass Communications where he developed strong communication and interpersonal skills that have enabled him to assist families through the sometimes overwhelming process of choosing a retirement community that is right for their loved one.
Tom joined the Riverstone team in September 2012 as Marketing Manager at Oakpark Retirement Community where he was able to work with an exceptional management team who all strive to provide the highest quality of care and service. Now at Stirling Park Retriement Community, the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of seniors and their families is something that Tom values above all else.
Catherine comes to Stirling Park Retirement Community with a passion for geriatrics and health promotion. She is a dedicated advocate for the elderly and promotes patient-centered, culturally sensitive care in a respectful and caring environment. Catherine has a long history of working with older adults. Before she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, she had a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sports Science. She performed exercise research with retired adults, while providing leadership and health promotion for a Senior’s Wellness program. She took her passion for health into Nursing and has continued to work with our ageing population, families and stakeholders to ensure the delivery of quality best-practice holistic care. With over a decade of nursing experience in Neurology, Telehealth, and Long-term Care, Catherine is excited to bring her passion for Senior’s health to our Stirling Park Retirement Community.
Nissa Coghlan-Kerr has always been interested in the field of Recreation. During her Bachelor's of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa, she had the opportunity to voluneer in many sectors of health and recreation. She volunteered her time with a Special Needs Autism Program, as well as the Recreation Department at the Royal Ottawa Geriatric Unit and worked/volunteered for a variety of physiotherapy clinics (gaining an extensive knowledge in anatomy and physiology).
After graduating University, Nissa worked in the service industry for 2 years and began teaching fitness classes at Goodlife Fitness. Something in her life was not complete, she realized that she wanted to pursue a career in fitness and recreation, specifically in helping older adults stay active and healthy, so they could enjoy their lives to the absolute fullest.
Nissa worked part-time for a year at a retirment home as an activities assistant, and moved into a full time role at an Adult Day Program for seniors with Dementia and Alzheimer's. There, she learned many skills on how to effectively operate and adapt programs to fit the social, physical and cognitive needs of each individual.
With very strong leadership qualities, and a drive to be the best, Nissa reached for a management position in the field, and was offered the Activity Manager position at Stirling Park Retirement Community. She is more than excited to be creating programs to motivate, engage and better the lives of our residents each day.
Caitlin has been working in the retirement industry for a decade now, first starting as a dining room server. She has been with the Riverstone team since 2009 at Bridlewood Trails, then at Carlingwood and now, Stirling Park. She graduated from Carleton University with a Masters degree in Art History where she honed in on her creativity and strong attention to detail. Caitlin's niche is team building and she strives to create a motivated and trusting environment at Stirling Park.
Caitlin is extremely excited to be part of the Stirling Park team and is looking forward to providing a warm and welcoming home to all of our residents.
Chris Inns is a Red Seal Chef, responsible for: staffing, planning menus, recipe implementation, purchasing, hygiene, safety and cost control. He has extensive experience in kitchens including 16 years in retirement homes and was the opening FSM at our Oakpark and Carlingwood locations. With a mandate of, If we can make it, we will, his focus is on resident satisfaction.

JL is from a military family where he lived overseas for several years. JL is an experienced ESM who has 16 years in the Retirement industry. Previously managing the maintenance, housekeeping and laundry services at Carlingwood Retirement Community, we are excited to have JL join the Stirling Park team. Striving to grow, JL has received his diploma in hotel and restaurant management and is fluent in both English and French.
